The Gum-Shaan Chronicles is a multi -volume series about the early history of Cantonese-Chinese America, 1850-1900, starting with pre-emigrant society and culture back home in (Central Gwongdung) China, followed by the epic settlement of America, first in the American West, Hawaii, and the Deep South, and then in the American Midwest and the Atlantic Seaboard. The series ends with a two-volume survey of ethnic Cantonese-Chinese politics, and political culture (1850-1900).
